Mission Japan Tokyo Served Jul 1975 - Aug 1977 Areas Served Kumagaya,Chiba, Matsumoto, Tokyo 3rd,Kiryu Presidents Shino, Price Companions Steele, Bostrum,Brown, Comment I had never expected to go to Japan, because I had served in the military and spent 3 years in Germany prior to that. Everyone told me that I would be likely to return to Germany. Wen I opened my mission call letter, the first thought that went through my mind upon seeing that I was going to Tokyo, Japan was, "raw fish!". I have been amazed that my service in Japan has followed me throughout the years. The Japanese language has stayed with me, even though my degree at Indiana University was in choral/vocal music. I completed additional work to license in teaching Japanese, and from that have had several studeents who have served missions in Japan and other Asian countries. I am not back to teaching choral music and private voice lessons, but still get asked to teach extension courses in Japanese to youth summer exploratory weeks by the Purdue extension services office in Frankfort, Indiana where I presently reside and am the Branch President.
